Wall Street Journal Selects Harvest Song Walnut for Cocktail Garnish
Harvest Song Fresh Walnuts as Cocktail Garnish
October 27, 2012 - Harvest Song's Fresh Walnuts were highlighted this past weekend in an online article of the Wall Street Journal's Food and Drink section. Selected by Jacob Grier of Metrovino in Portland, Oregon as the garnish that "embodies the flavor of the cocktail", the chewy Harvest Song walnut is featured in Grier's latest cocktail creation called "The Black Glove."
Black Glove Make cocktail: Stir 2 ounces dark rum, 1 ounce sweet vermouth, 1/2 ounce Nux Alpina nocino and 1 dash Angostura bitters with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Use a peeler to take off a strip of orange peel about 3/4-inch-wide, running from top to bottom of orange. Express orange peel over drink. Make garnish: Slice a preserved walnut (available at harvestsongventures.com ) in half lengthwise, and wrap with strip of orange peel. Secure with a cocktail skewer and place across rim of glass. |
