Worth Preserving

Sylvia Tirakian, a New York-based engineer turned importer, has reaped the fruits of her native Armenia and put them in a jar.  The result is HARVEST SONG, a new line of all natural preserves that demand accompaniments beyond the ordinary breakfast muffin.

Her signature apricot spread complements the sharpness of aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, while the peach is delicious in Greek yogurt.  Wild strawberry pairs as well with soft cheeses as with peanut butter, and quince makes a match for manchego.  The exotic baby-walnut preserve is even part of the cheese course at Manhattan’s Café Boulud, and Harvest Song products are featured on menus at several other top restaurants around the country.

Sun ripened in the tiny orchards of Armenia’s Ararat Valley, Harvest Song’s fruit is carefully handpicked; gently cleaned, inspected and cut; and then slowly steamed in small batches in copper and brass pots.  “In Armenia, our whole life is centered on the harvest,” says Tirakian.  “This is my way of sharing the tastes and textures of the healthy, natural foods I enjoyed as a child.” $7 to $10 for an 18.9-ounce jar. 516.773.7356; ..Suzanne Gannon

Customers' Testimonials

We just purchased a few different jams of your line. Being from Austria, where we have Darbo and Staud's, naturally I was a bit skeptic about your apricot jam. Ehm, what can I say. We are blown away. The flavor gave me instant flashbacks when my mother would make jams at home. We love it, love it, love it.

Your wonderful jam was a thank you gift given to me by a patient and I love it.

Just recently I purchased a jar of your Apricot Preserves. They are delicious. I at first wondered if they were too expensive for me, but decided after tasting them at the market, I couldn't resist. And I wasn't sorry. They are so good. We had company stay with us, and served the preserves and they were very impressed too. Thanks for such good products.

Carol Murphy

Your preserves are a big hit, we use the Rose Petal on the Foie Gras and the others with the cheese course.
